Manatt’s Patricia Boozang, a senior managing director with Manatt Health, was quoted by ThinkProgress for an article on the Kentucky governor’s proposed opioid policy that has evoked concerns among some health experts.
“Medical frailty is actually a concept in law and regulation,” said Boozang. She explained that it’s intended to be a “protective policy” that tries to safeguard vulnerable communities from losing access to comprehensive coverage. Even so, this designation might miss some people with substance use disorder, she said.
“[They] are most at risk of dropping out because they just don’t do what they’re supposed to do.”
