Corporate Disputes Magazine interviewed Manatt’s Michelle Cooke, co-chair of the firm’s intellectual property practice, and Rebecca Torrey, a partner in the firm’s employment and labor practice, for a roundtable discussion of the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA), which was signed into law in May 2016.
“The DTSA largely has been welcomed by business communities,” Cooke said. “It is anticipated that the DTSA will be a significant tool to better protect some of the most valuable business assets of the modern economy—information.”
Torrey explained, “The DTSA expressly does not preempt state trade secrets laws; rather, it provides additional remedies and strategic options that are likely to impact the outcome of a claim.”
