In its third annual Legal Impact Report, Variety has recognized Manatt Entertainment and Media Co-Chair Lindsay Conner and partner Aydin Caginalp as two of 36 transactional lawyers in the country whose work is significantly impacting the entertainment industry.
Conner was featured by Variety for his representation of Sony Pictures Entertainment in its recently announced $200 million slate deal, co-financed by LStar Capital and Citigroup. Conner assists film, TV and new media companies with financing, producing and distribution, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
"Highlighting the globalization of entertainment finance as well as production and distribution, I represented a European television company that partnered with Amazon Studios in the financing and distribution of a made-for-Internet series called 'Bosch,'" Conner said of his other recent work.
Variety featured Caginalp for helping BMG Rights Management expand its music catalog. He represented BMG in its purchase of publishing assets from Primary Wave Music, the Rosetta collection of catalogs from Sony ATV, and Mute Records and Sanctuary catalogs.
"We helped music companies in the publishing business build their repertoire this year, especially BMG Music; it was significant in terms of volume and value," said Caginalp.
