U.S. News & World Report quoted Manatt's Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health Solutions, for an article on the top issues facing the health insurance arena this year.
As reported by U.S. News & World Report, major concerns within the industry include whether portions of the Affordable Care Act will stay intact amid political and legal challenges. The Supreme Court is expected to decide whether the government can provide subsidies to alleviate health insurance costs for Americans in the 37 states that rely on HealthCare.gov. Republicans are also running Congress, and their focus now will be on changing parts of the law.
Ario said that he thinks the current Congress will block the law from being as effective as it could be. "We are going to see this as a season of missed opportunities," Ario said. "There are portions of the [Affordable Care Act] that can be fixed, but it won't happen in this Congress."
