Politico interviewed Manatt's Cindy Mann, a partner in the firm's Healthcare practice, for an article on the Republican-dominated states that are seeking to add work requirements to Medicaid expansion. The idea is catching fire among Republicans—and may well resonate on the presidential campaign trail in 2016.
Mann said that making benefits contingent on work undermines the purpose of the Affordable Care Act. "You're going to have gaps in coverage," she said. "You're going to defeat those goals of improving health."
