Law360 interviewed Manatt's Ian Spatz, a senior advisor in the firm's Healthcare Division, about the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' retreat from a major overhaul of Medicare Part D.
Law360 reports that the proposed rule, whose biggest components have been largely abandoned, would alter prescription drug pricing, coverage and insurance policies significantly. The proposals had been unpopular with corporations and beneficiaries, and CMS faced a looming vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to block them.
"I think they just took on big items all at the same time and therefore got a lot of people united against it," said Spatz.
