Politico quoted Manatt's Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, for an article on what would happen if the courts ultimately block Obamacare subsidies through the federal exchange.
Politico reports that more than half the country would be cut off from the money that makes the health care law work. However, states and the federal government can find ways to keep subsidies for millions of people already receiving them in the 36 states relying on the federal exchange.
"The [HHS] Secretary has broad-based regulatory authority when it comes to the exchanges," said Ario. "There are a lot of things she could do."
