Bloomberg Quotes Joel Ario on Healthcare.gov Back-End Repairs
"Back-End Errors at U.S. Health Website Jeopardize Sign-Up"
Bloomberg
December 8, 2013 - Bloomberg quoted Manatt's Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health Solutions, on U.S. officials' new focus on the back-end issues of the Healthcare.gov health exchange website.
Bloomberg reports that repairs to the front end of the website led a spurt of 29,000 new enrollments in the first two days of December, and officials are now concentrating on what happens after customers select a plan on the site. The government says the data transmission errors have been reduced to 1 in 10, but consumers still need to be vigilant about their health plan purchases. Enrollment isn't complete until consumers make their first payment.
"It's time for people to move toward locking in coverage and paying for it," said Ario. Insurers will face "a tall challenge" trying to resolve enrollment errors as the time shortens before coverage begins January 1, he said.
