Joel Ario Comments on Exchange Traffic Volume
"Navigators, Counselors Supplying Answers"

October 6, 2013 - Manatt's Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health Solutions, spoke to the Philadelphia Inquirer about the high volume of traffic to exchanges on launch day, which did not result in a high number of enrollees.
As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that 2.8 million people accessed the federal health exchange on its opening day. However, the number of people who actually enrolled in plans was not announced, but the number is likely to be low.
"There is time, since very few people will want to pay now, meaning it will be mostly shopping in October," said Ario. "That the traffic to websites is surprisingly high is a very good thing. But the glitches also are an issue, partly because of volume, and need to be ironed out since online functionality is critical."
