The yearlong Lateral Partner Integration Plan is meticulously designed to position you for success at Manatt. From the day you start, the focus will be on making connections, building relationships, and acclimating you to our culture of teamwork and collaboration.

Together, we’ll develop a formal integration plan. A team will be formed around you, including a Partner Sponsor, key practice partners, and whatever support you need to get you—and your clients—settled in. We’ll connect you to potent resources in marketing and technology, and we’ll work with you on business development strategies.

The object is to generate opportunities, both for you and for the firm. As part of our interview process, we use case studies to gauge candidates’ critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as their ability to structure a solution in an organized manner. The following video seeks to de-mystify these case studies for candidates from a range of different backgrounds who are interested in joining Manatt Health. The video will show candidates how a typical case study interview is conducted at Manatt and gives candidates the opportunity to work through the “Medicaid Expansion Case Study” with tips along the way. Candidates should expect to receive a different case study during their interview. We don’t expect a candidate be an expert on specific issues addressed in the case, but rather, we are interested in how well the candidate can structure their problem-solving approach. A summer of shared values

You’ll be starting your career. You’ll be in an entrepreneurial environment. You’ll be working with and learning from exceptional attorneys—people doing groundbreaking legal work in dozens of different practices in our key industry sectors.

Professional Development

As a Manatt summer associate, everything will be geared toward your development as a future lawyer. You’ll have the opportunity to explore different areas of the law as you explore your own areas of interest.

Your training will be both formal and informal, broad-based and focused. You’ll attend workshops, presentations, and practice overviews. You’ll be assigned a team of mentors that will guide you, find opportunities for you, and generally look out for your progress. Their feedback will be constant—and invaluable.

You’ll shadow partners and associates at hearings, trials, client meetings, depositions, and negotiations. You’ll listen in on internal meetings of practice groups, industry groups, and diversity groups. You’ll watch seasoned professionals in action, getting a feel for how they think, how they interact with one another, and how they deal with the unexpected.

By the end of the summer, you will have an excellent idea of what it means to be a Manatt attorney.
