Ron Turovsky is a litigation partner and leads Manatt’s government litigation practice. Ron counsels clients through all phases of complex governmental, regulatory, constitutional and public policy actions. He also has an active practice handling complex civil litigation matters. Recognized by the Daily Journal as one of the Top 100 lawyers in California and as a “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation, Ron has handled a wide variety of high-profile and closely watched matters, including litigation against and involving state and local government lawmakers.
Ron’s government litigation matters include actions involving government contracts, statutory and regulatory matters, civil and administrative enforcement, government licensing, taxes, ballot initiatives, electioneering, and the use of public funds. In commercial litigation, Ron has handled complex disputes involving trade secrets, unfair competition, entertainment, real estate and land use, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, and antitrust matters.
Among Ron’s clients are a major freight rail company, an outdoor advertising company, California state agencies, motion picture production companies, recording artists, pension funds and investment advisors, gaming businesses, real estate developers, professional partnerships, one of the largest food companies in the world, and elected officials and political committees. He has served as campaign counsel for candidates seeking city, state and federal elected offices and was California legal counsel for the Clinton 1996 and Gore 2000 presidential campaigns. Ron also participated in the postelection recount activities in Florida on behalf of the Gore campaign.
In addition to presently leading Manatt’s government litigation practice and serving on its management committee, Ron previously was the head of Manatt’s civil trial and appellate group and has served on several different Firm committees, including compensation. For many years, Ron was the head of recruiting for the Firm.
