Billboard reported on the launch of Manatt Digital Media, which offers innovative, one-stop, full-service legal and business consulting services for clients in the digital media, entertainment and advertising industries.
Manatt Digital Media, led by partner T. Hale Boggs, who focuses his practice on corporate, finance and venture capital law, differentiates itself from other professional services providers by providing "a suite of soup-to-nuts services, including business consulting, partner negotiations and mergers and acquisitions," Billboard said.
Its investment arm, Manatt Digital Media Ventures, is headed by the former CEO of Sorenson Media Peter Csathy. The investment fund is financed by the firm's partners, who have invested in digital media startups such as Pinterest and Etsy.
"There's been a groundswell of new digital business models, particularly in Los Angeles and New York," said Csathy. "There's also an optimism among media companies about what this can mean for them."
Partner Jordan Bromley, who is a member of the 30-person Manatt Digital Media, said the firm will look to invest in companies that help deliver content, particularly live content.
"We're interested in companies that facilitate access," Bromley said.
