Manatt Health National Advisor Paul Irving commented on the new Federal report, “Aging in the United States: A Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging,” in Next Avenue, discussing its aim to raise awareness of the needs of America’s aging population how it can help advance health outcomes for this group.
While Irving commented that this plan was an important document worthy of attention and visibility, he also felt that it should focus more on the financial power and working capabilities of older adults. There is hope for the next White House Conference on Aging in 2025, but the political climate has raised doubts about whether it will happen, he added. “Who's elected in Congress and the White House will make a huge difference over whether [aging] programs will be expanded or contracted and whether any of these things can be meaningfully implemented at scale or in ways that reflect real change,” Irving said.
