Manatt Health Senior Advisor Stephanie Anthony was quoted by Chief Healthcare Executive and MedPage Today on the growing activity of state legislatures in the healthcare arena.
State lawmakers are increasingly focused on the prices of prescription drugs, hospitals, health systems and high-cost providers. States are busy responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and preparing for a post-pandemic reality, Anthony commented. When the public health emergency ends, states will have to weigh the eligibility of millions of people who are currently on Medicaid, she added. The Families First Coronavirus Relief Act requires states to extend Medicaid eligibility through the PHE, so “many states are starting to think about that and determine their approaches for restarting eligibility determination,” Anthony concluded.
