Manatt Real Estate partner Grace Winters spoke with Law360 on the impact the recently issued $2 trillion COVID-19 relief package might have on the commercial real estate industry, and in particular on landlords. In the article, Winters noted that funding from the relief package won’t go directly to landlords, and that “commercial property owners don't seem to have much forbearance protection for their mortgage.” She added that the lack of rent landlords are receiving from tenants “is likely to create a ‘second wave of problems’ when mortgage payments for landlords come due May 1."
