Manatt’s Craig Moyer, chair of the firm’s land, environment and natural resources practice, was quoted by Law360 for an article on California’s fight against the Environmental Protection Agency’s emission standards rollback.
The publication noted that in April, the EPA withdrew the Obama administration’s midterm evaluation, which determined fuel economy standards.
“One of the foundational elements of the Clean Air Act has been California’s ability to have its own regulatory regime,” said Moyer. “To take that away after 48 years is shocking. An administration that perceives itself [as being] in favor of states’ rights is ... eviscerating this integral part of the Clean Air Act.”
