U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers have selected Manatt as the "Law Firm of the Year" in both Advertising Law and Entertainment Law – Motion Pictures and Television as part of the 2017 "Best Law Firms" rankings. Only one law firm in each of 74 practice areas is selected to receive the prestigious “Law Firm of the Year” distinction, which is based on a firm’s overall performance in the “Best Law Firms” research of a given practice area.
In addition to the “Law Firm of the Year” designation, Manatt’s advertising team, led by partner Linda Goldstein, received the highest national “Best Law Firms” ranking, as well as the highest metropolitan rankings in New York City and Washington, D.C., for Advertising Law. The film, television and digital content group, led by partner Lindsay Conner, also received the highest national ranking and the highest metropolitan rankings in Los Angeles, New York City and Washington, D.C., for Entertainment Law – Motion Pictures and Television. These rankings, which are based on a rigorous evaluation process that includes the collection of client and lawyer evaluations, peer review from leading attorneys and review of additional information provided by law firms, reflect the groups’ quality of law practice and breadth of legal expertise.
Home to one of the top advertising law practices in the country, Manatt’s national advertising, marketing and media practice is centered around a group of highly experienced and successful New York-based advertising lawyers, a comprehensive West Coast entertainment and media presence, and an advertising litigation and regulatory base in Washington, D.C. The group works broadly across industries, representing advertisers to establish and protect solid, competitive, proprietary campaigns and product positioning platforms.
Manatt’s entertainment and media practice is also a well-established leader in the industry, brokering deals across America and in Asia, Europe and Latin America. The firm’s film, TV and digital content lawyers provide both transactional and litigation services to studios, networks, telecommunications companies, production and distribution companies, banks, funds and other investors.
This marks the advertising group’s second “Law Firm of the Year” win, having been selected for the first time in 2015. This is also only the third time that a firm has achieved the “Law Firm of the Year” standing in Entertainment Law – Motion Pictures and Television since the awards launched six years ago.
Manatt practices have been included in the “Law Firm of the Year” initiative since 2014, when the firm’s music group was selected for Entertainment Law – Music and was selected again in 2016. The music group maintains a Tier 1 national standing in the 2017 “Best Law Firms” guide.
