With over 15 years of experience in public policy and legislative advocacy, Alfredo Medina has effectively navigated complex political landscapes to advance the interests of diverse clients. Alfredo currently serves as Advisor for the Government Practice team at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, where he spearheads political strategies, analyzes legislation and advises corporate and executive officials on legislative matters. He works on a wide range of issues, including energy, economic development, environmental, transportation, health and local government. In this role, Alfredo represents clients before state agencies, regulatory bodies and the California Legislature to advance their objectives.
At Manatt, Alfredo has developed and executed strategic advocacy plans that have successfully influenced legislative outcomes, including securing increased state funding through budget advocacy. His role also involves representing clients at key industry events and collaborating with trade associations and stakeholders to ensure legislative priorities are met.
Prior to joining Manatt, Alfredo served as a Legislative Consultant with Senator Kevin de Leon, Chair of the Appropriations Committee. He also served as a Policy Advisor to Senate Majority Leader Dean Florez and Senator Denise Ducheny, Chair of the Budget and Fiscal Review Committee until each could no longer serve due to term limits.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Alfredo is actively involved in civic leadership and volunteer activities. He was part of Improve Your Tomorrow, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young men of color through education. He was recognized by Sacramento Business Journal as one of its 2020 “40 Under 40” honorees. This list “celebrates those individuals who reflect the drive, commitment and passion that help make Sacramento great.”
