Professional Background
I represent lenders to technology, health care and life science companies, and their venture capital and private equity sponsors. I work with banks and non-bank, direct lenders as they deploy capital to seed-stage to more mature, including publicly-traded, companies. I also represent companies across a broad spectrum of industries as borrowers.
As a “recovering bankruptcy attorney,” having made partner at my first firm as a Chapter 11 restructuring lawyer, I also engage with lenders as they work through challenged credits, including in connection with work-outs, work-throughs, modifications, forbearances and debt restructurings, including public and private foreclosure sales, assignments for benefit of creditors and bankruptcy proceedings, including voluntary and involuntary cases.
I frequently speak—and am sometimes quoted—on topics related to the “state of the venture debt market.”

My Advice to Entrepreneurs
- Successful business requires real, personal relationships, not just “service providers;” get to know those with whom you do business so they’ll stick with you when the road gets bumpy.
- Be a mentor. And a mentee.
