Billboard Magazine, June 2, 2007 - Billboard Magazine noted Manatt partners Lee Phillips and Eric Custer for their representation of Brian Wilson, the former Beach Boy and legendary songwriter. In an interview in Billboard's "Legal Matters" column, firm lawyers discussed how "covermounts" -- a new marketing tool in the United Kingdom where free CDs are mounted on publications, in this case, The Daily Mail -- and sold as part of the newspaper. A covermount with re-recorded Beach Boy tunes led to a litigation brought against Brian Wilson by former band mate, Mike Love. Manatt litigators successfully obtained dismissal of all 18 causes of action through summary adjudication.
